David Phelps
Mr. Phelps was the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of MedVenture
Technology Corporation from its inception through 2001. MedVenture is
a firm specializing in the development of medical devices. MedVenture
has developed over fifty medical devices and has over thirty patents issued
or pending. MedVenture has been recognized as an “INC 500”
company. He is a founder of three medical device firms, currently serves
on the board of directors of four medical device firms (CorNovus, InfraReDx,
NexGenics and MedVenture) and is on the scientific advisory board of three
medical device firms. Mr. Phelps has been the chairman of MetaCyte (LMCDC
incubator) since 1999.
In 1999 Mr. Phelps served on the search committee to establish and recruit
the director of the bio-medical engineering program at the University
of Louisville.
Mr. Phelps worked at Baxter Healthcare in various positions including
product development and manufacturing engineering. He was responsible
for the start-up of Baxter’s vascular catheter plant in Ireland.
Prior to leaving Baxter, Mr. Phelps was the manager of manufacturing planning
for Fenwal’s worldwide operations which had plants located in England,
France, Belgium, Puerto Rico and the United States. In 1987 he left Baxter
to manage product development and engineering for Medi-Tech. As Medi-Tech
grew to become Boston Scientific Corporation, Mr. Phelps’s responsibilities
grew to include external product development, engineering and manufacturing.
Mr. Phelps has been recognized as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of
The Year® Award recipient. Mr. Phelps is a graduate of Georgia Institute
of Technology and the Harvard Business School.
JOHN HEIRONIMUS
Mr. Heironimus’ background includes extensive senior management
experience at Fortune 500 companies in General Management, Marketing and
Strategic Planning. He has worked both domestically and internationally.
He has also been involved with a number of successful start-up companies.
Most recently, Mr. Heironimus was a Partner at Churchill Partners, a Connecticut-based
marketing/strategy consulting firm, and an Executive-in-Residence at MetaCyte
Business Labs, a local life sciences incubator. Mr. Heironimus’
educational background includes an MBA from Harvard Business School, a
BSE in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and a
BS in Economics from the Wharton School.
